400Hz Power Equipment Options

400Hz power is extremely common in today's jet craft because the equipment needed to generate this type of power is considerably lighter than 50Hz or 60Hz counterparts, while the power produced is still sufficient to run the complicated instruments and gear aboard the plane. The drawback to this, of course, is that support facilities tend to be equipped with the standard of the country they are in, usually 50Hz or 60Hz. A 400Hz frequency converter will allow you to perform service on aircraft without damaging any of the electrical or electronic parts with the wrong frequency, which will often burn out components.

Fixed unit pieces produced by ITW Military GSE include the power coil. This provides 400Hz power where you need it. A 270VDC or 400Hz frequency converter is also available. This is a particularly versatile unit. It acts as a 3 phase frequency converter and allows for individual control of each phase and includes auto-calibration capabilities to provide balanced output voltage at the cable head. We also manufacture mobile power frequency converters, such as the CGAC trailer, which provides pre-conditioned air as well. The 300T can be trailer or truck mounted and has four separate 400Hz outputs.

3 phase frequency converter units are needed because this system is able to handle larger amounts of electricity than a normal two phase system. A converter allows you to use your facilities normal three phase power and transform it into 400Hz suitable for jets.
